英文简介:
Delirion is in essence a Doppler shifter that works across three different frequency bands.
Each band can work across multiple channels, allowing you to tweak the input signal to something reminiscent of a fever dream. All of Delirions parameters can be automated for maximum control and flexibility.
Controls
There are quite some elements within Delirion's UI and while they will be explained here, it is encouraged to tweak through experimentation to discover some happy accidents.
By adjusting the frequency and speed controls of all individual bands you are able to create anything from a subtle chorus to microtonal harmonizations. Delirion works best on harmonically rich, sustained sounds.
Triangles
The three triangles represent - from left to right - the low, middle and high frequency bands. Each section has the same controls, but their operation is restricted to their own spectrum.
Odd & Even
Allows you to set the speed of the Doppler effect where the listeners position can be adjusted to move between half and twice the rate of the input signal. For multi channel signals, this speed is applied to the odd (left for a stereo signal) and even (right for a stereo signal).
When the speed is set to 0 the effect is bypassed.
Link
Synchronizes the speed of all Doppler instances to the speed of the odd channel. This is recommended for the low frequency band as keeping it in the center provides a solid ground for your track. Then again, a little stereo weirdness might not hurt...
Cutoff frequency
The last rotary dial controls the cutoff frequency, allowing you to sculpt a sound that fits perfectly within the context of your composition.
The ranges are:
Low band 200 to 1000 Hz
Mid band 1000 to 5000 Hz
Hi band 5000 to 22050 Hz
By adjusting the cutoff you can further tune the sound of the plugin to complement either the input signal or the other instrumentation in your composition.
In other words : both the pitch shift of the Doppler effect and the cutoff frequency of the section can be used for sound shaping purposes.
Modifiers
There is further interest to be had by use of the following buttons:
Invert to adjust the direction of the Doppler effect
Freeze freezes the sound of the middle frequency band, like a diffuse reverb forever repeating the sound audible at the moment it was enabled
By default, Invert is enabled and provides a downward shift. This works instantaneously on an incoming signal. When invert is disabled, an upwards shift is provided. This introduces a delay* as the plugin needs to record the input signal and as such this works best on long sustained sounds.
*The time where the inverted effect starts becoming audible (after the sequencer first starts running) is synced to the tempo and time signature of the host to keep the effect in time.
Mix controls
The last two dials are provided for you to create an interesting blend of sounds:
Bottom applies wave shaping to the lower frequency band
Mix controls the dry/wet mix of the plugin
Through use of the Bottom-control you can subtly distort the lower frequencies, adding weight (and a more upsetting dream-like sound) to the overall effect.
By controlling the dry/wet mix you can control how much of the input signal is blended with the effected signal.
Blending in some of the input signal allows you to use the effected sound to create minor pitch deviations or deviations that complement the input, keeping your compositions harmony in check.
The archives contain VST3 plugins for both macOS (Intel and ARM) and Windows (10 and up). Additionally macOS users can also use Delirion as an Audio Unit.
