FM synthesis were developed during 60s at Stanford University, California, by John Chowning, who was trying to create sounds different from analog synthesis. Yamaha eventually commercialised FM synthesis technology with the first FM digital synthesiser released in 1980.

“FM Sound Box” brings you some of the iconic and also fresh FM sounds! These kind of synthesis gained momentum in the 80s and had revival in 00s, to be then brought to life again by various companies in the last few years.
