In the late 2000s Hip-Hop artists began to incorporate atmospheric horror synth with a heavier style. As a result, new genre born – Witch House.

Despite the name, Witch House does not bear similarities to house music, instead applying techniques rooted in chopped and screwed hip-hop, slowed tempos with skipping, stop-timed beats, coupled with elements from other genres such as ethereal darkwave, chill trap and noise.
