This series of 11 video tutorials will get you up to speed on every aspect of iZotope’s amazing new mastering suite. After an overview of the seven powerful processors that make up the Ozone package, we run through the new features introduced with version 6, then show you how to lay out a series of tracks for ‘sweetening’ in preparation for mastering.
Getting into the Ozone 6 modules themselves, we start with Dynamics and the global functions, before moving on to explore the various parameters and Vectorscope views of the multiband Imager, used to add ‘air’ or ‘space’ to the mix. In chapter 6, we tackle the Exciter module – an invaluable tool for dialing in high-frequency enhancement – focusing it on specific frequency ranges to generate exactly the required ‘sizzle’.
Next comes the Equalizer, which enables excessive peaks to be tamed and holes to be filled with its eight flexible bands. That’s followed by third-party plugin hosting – one of Ozone 6’s marquee features; and finally, we wrap up with the indispensable Maximizer, the all-new Dynamic EQ and the Dithering section.
